Dear friends,

I hope you are well and are enjoying the beauty of this new season. As much as I love to paint and draw, nature is the true artist and I thought you might like to see a picture of the crab apple tree outside my studio, it brings my heart such pleasure.

This month has been really busy, Book 3 has finally gone off to be printed and we will have copies at the shop and online in time for summer. If you pre-ordered a copy thank you! We are having 100 special books made and they will be signed and numbered just for you.

I'm still working on learning to make miniature figures of our characters for the shop, I've included pictures of them below so you can see how things are progressing. It's fun to share works in progress with you. I'm excited to get them just right, so we can make them for the shop.

Here is little Henry with his boat, sitting with his toes in a tide pool. I quite like this one but I think I can do better so I'm going to remake him, and get the bottle just right too. Once he's done I will add clear varnish to the tide pool so his feet are in the 'water'.

I like the way that Elise turned out but again I think I can do better so I'm going to make a new one, but I feel she's heading in the right direction.

This is a model of Rookscroft inside a glass dome. We are going to try hollowing it out and put a light inside so that the windows glow which I think might look nice. I would also like to make a Christmas version covered in snow.

The Samuel Sippers model is the first one I am truly happy with and so he will be our first character to be scanned and cast in resin. I cant wait to paint him and put him in the shop for sale.

I hope you enjoyed a little peek inside my studio, Quentin and Robin have been very busy being creative too and I know they are looking forward to sharing their latest accomplishments with you all. Until next time, take care

Your friend Jayne

Welcome back friends,

Robin and I've been out in the gardens, it's been very fine weather indeed, there's nothing like a picnic under the blossoms on a sunny afternoon. Yesterday we went out and Robin let me have a try with his little old camera.

He was darting around in the foliage and I managed to take a few pictures of him which we developed in the darkroom this morning. I'm particularly proud of this one and I thought you might like to see it too, it's the only one that isn't a blur.

I must confess that I overdid it with the hot cross buns at easter so even though it's a bit overcast today I'm going to brave it and do a lap around the lawn before lunch to work them off. Wish me luck!

Remember, the secret to good living is don't spare the treats.

Quentin

Hello everyone,

I'm very excited that I can show you my first painting, it's of Quentin from yesterday when we went out in the garden. There wasn't really a rainbow but I painted one because I like the colours and I put in some rain too because you need rain for a rainbow to appear, and I also painted a spider but I didn't have enough room for all the legs so you will have to imagine some of them, and the eyes too.

Bye bye

Robin
